SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Covert Affairs 3.10 Review: "Let's Dance"

By John Keegan

covert_affairs_by_narcizze-d4l60o2Now that the direction of the season/series has been set more or less in stone, it’s all about how the writers are going to manage to make it work. On the surface of it, as I mentioned in reviews for previous episodes, the majority of the damage is to the integrity of Arthur’s character arc. In one fell swoop, he is rendered all but useless again. This episode doesn’t change that, but it does show that Annie’s characterization is back on track.

White Collar 4.10 Review: "Vested Interest"

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright

white-collar-posterThe mid-season finales of "White Collar" always end on a dramatic cliffhanger. In the first season, it was the reveal that Peter was secretly in contact with Kate (which, considering that this was still the first season, made us wonder if Peter might be a baddie); in the second season, it was Mozzie being shot; and in the third, it was Keller's kidnapping of Elizabeth. And as expected, the fourth season attempts to follow suit.

White Collar: "Vested Interest" Early Review

By Jamie Ruby

White CollarTonight USA Network will air the White Collar fourth season mid-season finale, "Vested Interest," and it's a doozy.

The episode picks up with Neal and Peter still at odds, Neal blaming him for Ellen's death and angry that he investigated Sam, which caused him to bolt. Peter tries to reconcile with Neal, who doesn't even want to talk to him. The two however have to put aside their problems as there is an FBI conference, and they have to speak to why they make such great partners. There are some great lines during the presentations, both Neal being a smart ass and Peter admitting to having faith.

Alphas 2.8 Review: "Falling"

By John Keegan

alphas_iconSince her introduction earlier in the season, Kat has been a bit sidelined, her work with Nina notwithstanding. This episode corrects that mistake, showing some of the nuances in her personal situation, and how her ability and its downside can be used against her best interests. It’s not at all surprising that she’s developed a bit of a complicated personality. This episode only seems to scratch the surface of how she might have been abused, and it’s enough to paint a disturbing picture.

Warehouse 13 4.8 Review: "Second Chance"

By John Keegan

warehouse_13_icon“Warehouse 13” has hit something of a rut in the past few episodes, and I’m not sure whether or not this installment pulls them out of it or not. On some fronts, there is definite momentum and change, but other elements are stuck in neutral. Much of the problem appears to be a static format, which is something previous seasons have avoided.

Lost Girl 2.22 Review: "Flesh and Blood"

By John Keegan and Paul Pearson

Lost-Girl-Season-2-thumbThis is the way the season ends: not with a tiny whimper, yet lacking the kind of epic bang that "Lost Girl" has been promising for some time. Viewers have been waiting patiently (or not-so-patiently) for a showdown between the heroes and the Big Bad, but what this episode ultimately amounted to was lots and lots of characters explaining things, with the occasional burst of good writing, action or performance.

The Newsroom 1.10 Review: "The Greater Fool"

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys

newsroom_iconThe first season of “The Newsroom” was in the can before the first episode aired, and the extremely divisive critical reception began. There was much speculation about whether Aaron Sorkin was oblivious to the reactions the show would provoke, or just didn’t care. The finale makes it clear that the former is false, and the latter is largely true. He is happy to play the television world equivalent of the “The Greater Fool,” and those of us enjoying the ride are just as glad to tag along.
