SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Exclusive: On the Set of Warehouse 13 - Jack Kenny

Exclusive Interview with Jack Kenny on the Set of Warehouse 13 in Toronto on August 23, 2013.
By Jamie Ruby

Jack KennyMonday Syfy's popular series Warehouse 13 comes to a close. In August the executive producer, Jack Kenny, talked to SciFi Vision during a set visit about the final season.

Kenny talked about some of the things that have been stuffed into the final six episodes. "There're like a thousand new things. Pete (Eddie McClintock), Myka (Joanne Kelly), and Artie (Saul Rubinek) fall into a telenovela, and they all speak Spanish. [We have] Anthony Head as Paracelsus; we see Hugo (Rene Auberjonois) and Vanessa (Lindsay Wagner) again. Pete and Steve (Aaron Ashmore) end up at a Renaissance fair. We meet Claudia (Allison Scagliotti)'s sister (Cryssie Whitehead) and help her.

"And then there's one final big threat to the warehouse, one last hurrah, where somebody comes at us in a bad way. We have a surprising big bad...We discover him in episode one in an alternate universe; it's very interesting. And then the finale, which is six episodes rolled into one."

Kenny has said in previous interviews that the episode was a love letter to the fans, and it really is. The episode does a great job in closing out the show and packs tons of great scenes in. The episode is a clip show, but in the best way, because it's clips that people have never seen before.

Judge Roseanne Barr & EP Page Hurwitz Talk Last Comic Standing

By Jamie Ruby

Last Comic StandingNext Thursday the comedy competition Last Comic Standing returns to NBC with a revamped format for the eighth season. This season the choice of who will be the "Last Comic Standing" is completely up to the judges, who include Rosanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Russell Peters, rather than by America's vote as in the past. The show will be hosted by JB Smoove. Page Hurwitz, who was an executive producer on season seven of the series, will return again to executive produce, along with Wanda Sykes and Javier Winnick.

In preparation, Barr and Hurwitz recently talked to the media about the new season of Last Comic Standing.

Barr talked to SciFi Vision about why she decided to do the show. "I just thought it would be really fun. And when I heard that Keenen Ivory Wayans was one of the judges, you know, I really love him. And, you know, I like Wanda a lot too. And so I thought it would be fun to work with some really great comics and get right in the middle of stuff that has to do with standup comedy."

Sasha Roiz & Claire Coffee on the Grimm Season 3 Finale

By Jamie Ruby

Sasha Roiz and Claire CoffeeOne of the main storylines that has been part of NBC's Grimm recently is dealing with Adalind Schade (Claire Coffee)'s baby. Unbeknownst to Adalind, Captain Sean Renard, played by Sasha Roiz, along with the help of Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby), and friends, have given the baby to Nick's mother (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) to take into hiding. Meanwhile, Adalind thinks Sean's brother, Viktor, and the Royals have the baby and will get her back by any means necessary.

Tomorrow night Grimm will finish out its third season with some shocking twists and fans will have to wait until next season to find out what happens to their favorite characters.

Coffee and Roiz talked to the media yesterday about the season finale and what fans can expect in the future.

Coffee talked to SciFi Vision about Adalind and Renard's relationship, "They really do have kind of a sickeningly codependent relationship. I don't know that there's ever really forgiveness or ultimate trust. But it does seem like the playing field is a little bit leveled with what they've done to each other."

Roiz added, "She certainly has a way with Renard. And I think there's always a possibility of them finding their way back to each other to some extent. But you know, there's also that baby that bonds them so there's always a need to kind of - hello, there's always going to be that bond between them because of that baby."

Morgan, Rosenbaum, and Hughes Talk Gang Related, Premiering 5/22

Chris Morgan, Scott Rosenbaum, and Allen Hughes
By Jamie Ruby

Fox's new action-drama, Gang Related, follows Detective Ryan Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez) of LA's Gang Task Force, who before becoming a cop was part of the Latino Gang called Los Angelicos. He may be a cop, but he still holds loyalty to the gang and its leader Javier Acosta (Cliff Curtis).

Recently, creator, writer, and executive producer Chris Morgan (The Fast and the Furious franchise; 47 Ronin), executive producer Scott Rosenbaum (Chuck; The Shield), and executive producer and director of the pilot episode Allen Hughes (Broken City; The Book of Eli) sat down with the media to talk about the new series.

Morgan talked to SciFi Vision about where the idea for the series came from. "I saw a police video one time of a man – they were responding to a man with a gun call, and the police show up. It was a dash cam video and the guy with the gun actually has an AK-47 and he begins to engage the police, and additional police cars show up and they can't touch this guy. The reason why is, breaking down the video later, they realize this guy was a gang member and on top of it, he was sent into the military to become a better soldier to come back and fight on the streets.

"Seeing that just made me think, wow, if the gangs have become so sophisticated that they are actually now dividing and making a hierarchy and specializing in certain things, what else would they be into? That just started getting the ball rolling on well, what if there was a gang task force and the guy who's leading it is, unbeknown to the police, is actually a member of the gang working to inform for them? That's the genesis of where that came from."

24's Mary Lynn Rajskub Discusses Chloe's Heatbreak

By Karen Moul

24: Live Another Day24: Live Another Day continued the week (Episode 3, 1 pm-2 pm) at the series' usual breakneck pace, with a small, heartbreaking pause. Jack learned the source of Chloe's hostility and why she is alone in London: her husband and son were killed in a hit-and-run accident that she believes was a failed attempt to assassinate her for helping Jack disappear at the end of Day 8.

SciFi Vision spoke with actress Mary Lynn Rajskub about Chloe's anger, her work with the hacker community, and her new goth-inspired style.

"I think she blames Jack," said Rajskub, "and I think she, of course, blames herself. Of course. I think it's both those things, and I think she's just been completely beaten down in every aspect. Everything that she tried to do right turned out wrong, and then some."

Rajskub said she understands how this drove straight-and-narrow Chloe to become and anti-government hacktivist and take up with Adrian Cross, the Julian Assange-inspired character.

"That becomes her rock, and that becomes her whole view of the world. That's the polar opposite of what she was, and that's, I think, from somebody who really doesn't feel she has a lot to live for at this point. "

Oliver Platt Talks Fargo

By Jamie Ruby

Oliver PlattOn FX's Fargo, Oliver Platt plays the part of Stavros Milos, a self-help book author, as well as the owner of a supermarket chain. Milos, however, has a secret to the start of his success that he wants to keep hidden, and hires Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thorton), which only causes things to go downhill from there.

The actor recently talked to the media about his role on Fargo.

Platt talked to SciFi Vision about what attracted him to the role. "Just such a muscular arc, you know? One of the first things you're looking at is, where does the guy start and where does he end, and how do they get him there? That's what we yearn for as actors, that distance to travel, and Noah laid that out in spades. It was a story that took this guy and took everything that he believed in and turned it on its head, and he didn't know who it was, who was doing it to him...and that's the brilliance of the scheme, is the ninja mind tricks."
