The back half of season five picks up after Mara is gone after Charlotte (Laura Mennell) put her and Audrey (both played by Emily Rose) back into one body. However, when Mara "died," it released Duke (Eric Balfour)'s curse, giving Troubles to even more people in the town. Advance Review: Containment - Predictable but Compelling

ContainmentTomorrow CW premieres its new mid-season drama, Containment. The series follows what happens after a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta. A quarantine cordon is quickly erected, keeping the sick and potentially infected separated from the rest of the city until a cure can be found.

On the outside is officer Lex Carnahan (David Gyasi), who becomes the face of hope after he is recruited by Dr. Sabine Lommers (Claudia Black), who is coordinating the efforts of the government and CDC. Lex's job becomes complicated when he realizes that his girlfriend Jana (Christian Moses) is stuck inside, as well as his friend and fellow officer Jake (Chris Wood), and he must follow Lommers harsh rule of no one in, no one out, no matter what. Also another problem that he faces is journalist Leo (Trevor St. John), who begins a hunt to find out the full truth of what is really happening inside the quarantine zone.

Meanwhile also stuck inside the quarantined area is elementary school teacher Katie (Kristen Gutoskie) and her class of students, including her son, as well as pregnant teen Teresa (Hannah Mangan Lawrence), who is separated from her boyfriend.

Lastly is Dr. Victor Cannerts (George Young), who is at ground zero trying to find the cure.

12 Monkeys is Must See TV That Keeps Getting Better

12 MonkeysTonight Syfy's hit series 12 Monkeys returns with all-new episodes. At the end of last season in 2015, time traveler James Cole (Aaron Stanford) got Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) in the time machine, in which she splintered into 2043 at the temporal facility, much to everyone's surprise.

Meanwhile in 2043, Deacon (Todd Stashwick) of the West VII had broken into and taken over the facility with The Messengers.

The series picks up at that point, but things take a turn in a different direction.

DVD Review: Get Your Game of Thrones Fix: Season 5 Blu-Ray

Game of ThronesGame of Thrones: The Complete Fifth Season is a great addition to your Blu-Ray collection, nicely packaged with solid bonus features that will please hardcore George R.R. Martin fans as well as viewers familiar only with the HBO series. The four-disc set includes all ten episodes of the season, which won a record twelve Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series.

Five years into the series, Game of Thrones’ complex storytelling defies quick synopsis. Throughout the season, Danaerys Targaryen struggles to lead Meereen and subdue the insurgent Sons of the Harpy, finally crossing paths with Tyrion Lannister. Meanwhile, Cersei Lannister also struggles to retain power in King’s Landing, but she underestimates the power of the High Sparrow. Littlefinger weds Sansa Stark to Ramsay Bolton, the worst sadist in all of Westeros, and Stannis’ devotion to the Lord of Light costs him everything. At the Wall, Jon Snow is elected Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and forms an alliance with the Wildlings, with disastrous results.

Advance Review: The X-Files - Doppelgängers, Dancing, and the Return of The Lone Gunmen

The X-FilesIn this week's episode, written and directed by series creator, Chris Carter, "Babylon," when terrorists bomb an art gallery for showing offensive artwork, Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are visited by younger agents on the case (Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose), who bare a resemblance to themselves. The two are looking for a way to speak to the one comatose bomber who survived, to find out who is behind the attack and stop any further attacks. Mulder and Scully use their own different beliefs to try to find answers. Some old friends and foes also show up.

The X-Files - Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster - 10.03 - Post Mortem

The X-FilesI've already posted a spoiler-free review of the episode, but now that it's aired I wanted to include some more specific thoughts before moving onto the full recap below, which includes quotes.

The X-Files
delivers a classic in this week’s comedic episode. Whether you're a diehard fan of The X-Files or not, episode three, "Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster," should delight you. It's one of the trademark quirky, funny episodes. Even better, if you are a fan, you'll love it for all the references/injokes to previous moments on the show.

Darin Morgan did an excellent job with the script. Scully says it perfectly in the episode, “Oh yeah, this is how I like my Mulder.” The episode truly feels like it could fit somewhere into the old series (minus the technology jokes, which were so funny), as the show hits its stride again, making the episode an instant classic.

The episode focuses on a man-sized lizard, who after being bit by a man, turns into a human. The were-lizard is brilliantly played by guest star Rhys Darby.

Kumail Nanjiani, who guest stars as Pasha, is also very funny in the episode, especially when he is acting alongside David Duchovny.

Advance Review: The X-Files Delivers a Classic Dose of Quirky Comedy

The X-FilesThis Monday The X-Files takes a comedic turn as “Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster.” The duo is called in to investigate what may be a serial killer, an animal attack, or something else altogether when witnesses claim they saw a monster.

The episode, written brilliantly by Darin Morgan, is a step back into the quirky and silly episodes of the original. The series was always able to poke fun of itself in the best ways. The episode is not only a throwback to the original series as it is filled with references and injokes, but an excellent story in its own right.

The X-Files - Founder's Mutation - Post Mortem

The X-FilesFollowing the review is a very detailed recap of the episode, including quotes.

The X-Fies returns with a monster-of-the-week for it's second episode of the season. This episode, which is about eugenics and psychokinesis, fits into the classically creepy episodes that the show is known for. That being said, it does bring in some connections with the mythology, which I appreciated, such as talking about alien-human hybrids, and of course the discussion of William.

There were a lot of good moments in the episode. One that sticks out is Skinner helping the agents out, telling them that it will take awhile to close out the case, basically giving them more time before the DOD will put a stop to their investigation.

The X-Files - My Struggle - 10.01 - Post Mortem

The X-FilesI've already posted a spoiler-free review of the episode, but now that it's aired I wanted to include some more specific thoughts before moving onto the full recap below, which includes quotes.

Even after seeing the premiere episode a couple times by this point, I still loved the episode, and there is a lot to love about it. The main thing is that "My Struggle" really makes you stop and think. I love how it completely twists a lot of the mythology on its ear. I'm still thinking about it. I'm not entirely sure what to even think completely yet, however. It's hard to reconcile that I have followed nine years' worth of a story that may turn out to be untrue, and that aliens were never even part of the conspiracy. Yet at the same time, that's what the plot has always done, twist and turn. We still don't even really know if the new information Mulder has found is true, but even if it is, who's to say that a lot of the characters besides just Mulder and Scully weren't also in the dark about what truly happened? They could have been lied to as well. It just adds a lot to think about, which is what this show is great at doing.

Advance Review: The X-Files - The Truth is Still Out There

The X-Files: My StruggleI was lucky enough to be able to see the episode back when it premiered at NYCC in October. These were my original reactions.

Sunday night FOX kicks off the premiere of the highly-anticipated return of The X-Files six episode event immediately following the NFC Championship Game. Stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully to solve cases of the unexplained, in the episode "My Struggle."

Being such a huge fan back when the original series aired, I was excited to see what the new series had in store, yet a bit trepidatious about it living up to the original. I was not disappointed.
