BBC AMERICA’S Doctor Who Season 9 Premiere Breaks Records with Double Digit Growth Across All Key Demos

Season Debut is Series’ Biggest Ever Among Adults 18-49

“Doctor Who” Ranks Among Top 10 Returning Cable Drama Premieres This Season Among Adults 18-49

“Doctor Who” is The #1 Social Drama of The Week

New York – September 21, 2015 – BBC AMERICA’s Doctor Who rang in season 9 with a bang, delivering double digit growth from season 8 across all key demos in live plus same day ratings. The premiere episode ranks as Doctor Who’s biggest season premiere ever in the Adult 18-49 demo, which nearly doubled the season 8 average. The season debut also saw increased social engagement versus last season’s premiere, and reigned as the most social drama of the night and week leading into the premiere.

Following the review is a very detailed recap of the episode, including quotes (I think I went a bit overboard!).

From the beginning of "The Magician's Apprentice" they hit the ground running. The opening scene with the hand mines is creepy and the moment of revealing the boy as Davros is shocking. At the start we are also introduced to Colony Sarff. The makeup design and later reveal of his transformation was also a great affect. I also loved the fact that Colony Sarff visited places and characters that viewers have seen in the new Doctor Who series.

However, probably my favorite moment from the episode was The Doctor's grand entrance. The image of Peter Capaldi as a rock god really worked and showed a different side of his personality.
