Recently
American Idol started its 14th season on FOX. Fans were shocked when the top 16 was cut to the top 12 and singer Mark Andrew, who had previously appeared in the top 48 as a contestant on NBC's
The Voice, was left behind. The 29 year old Minnesota native recently talked in an exclusive interview with Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision about his time on
Idol and his plans for the future.
Mark decided to audition for
Idol after talking to his agent. "One of my booking agents reached out to me and let me know that
Idol was interested in having me come in, and I was really hoping just to be able to get out and reach outside of like the Minneapolis circle of musicians, because that's kind of where I've been stuck for a while, and kind of get exposure on a national stage again. And hopefully I could get farther than the top 48 I made on
The Voice, and I did, so that was good. And my family encouraged me to try it again, so I gave it a shot."
The singer doesn't have plans to audition for a television series again anytime soon. "The hope is that the exposure that I gained from being on
Idol this time is enough that I can make the album that I really want to make, and hopefully that's really well received and enough people will still be interested in listening to it."
