Tonight Syfy premieres its new highly anticipated series, Dark Matter, based on the graphic novel of the same name. The series follows the crew of a derelict spacecraft after they awaken from stasis with no memory of who they are or why they are there. While trying to figure out answers, they awaken the ship's android, played by Lost Girl's Zoie Palmer. The crew must work together, which includes utilizing the Android's help, to find out the truth.

Palmer recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about her time working on the new series, and what fans can expect.

The actress may have already worked with Syfy on another series, but she still got the role of the Android by auditioning. "Of course the producers from Lost Girl knew me, but the creators of Dark Matter didn't. You know, like they sort of hadn't met me, or weren't overly familiar with my work. So I auditioned for those guys, and we kind of went from there. It was kind of that process.

Tomorrow Syfy's new series Dark Matter premieres. The series follows the crew of a derelict spacecraft after they awaken from stasis with no memories. As they have no memories of even their names, the crew name themselves by number, in the order they awoke (and also use nicknames at times). One aka Pretty Boy (Marc Bendavid), Two aka Boss Lady (Melissa O'Neil), Three aka Sunshine (Anthony Lemke), Four aka Slashy McStabberson (Alex Mallari Jr.), Five aka Kid (Jodelle Ferland), and Six aka Tiny (Roger Cross). The crew members, along with the ship's android (Zoie Palmer), must work together to find answers as they face threats along the way.

Stars Bendavid, O'Neil, and Lemke, along with executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, recently talked to the media about the new series.

The actors talked to SciFi Vision about not knowing everything about their characters ahead of time and learning along with them. O'Neil embraced that aspect. "I actually loved it. Being a first-time performer on television, I didn't really know what to expect, and I thought that it was such a lovely thing to encounter, that we were going through what our characters were going through. At the same time, we were discovering what was happening and how to interact with each other in the exact way that our characters would be doing it. We were just piecing it together as it came to us. But I think that there is a great bit of truth that's happening on screen, that we've all done our homework to prepare our characters as much as we could. There is honesty that's happening there as we navigate that."

Tomorrow night the hit series Defiance returns to Syfy for an all-new third season. The show picks up where it left off after last season’s big cliffhanger: Old St. Louis has collapsed on top of the ship where Nolan (Grant Bowler) pulled Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas) into a lifepod. Meanwhile, Christie (Nicole Munoz) and Alak (Jesse Rath) have been kidnapped by Christie’s mother, Pilar (Linda Hamilton), and brother, Quentin (Justin Rain).

The new season brings with it a new alien race, the Omec, which predates all of the other Votan races.

While the town deals with the new visitors, there is also another threat in the form of military leader of the Votanis Collective, General Rahm Tak (Lee Tergesen).
