Dreaming of Success: Jason Isaacs Stars in "Awake"

By Jamie Ruby

Jason IsaacsMany people may know of Jason Isaacs because of his portrayal of the villain Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. The British actor, however, has a long list of credits to his name. He has appeared on film in other hit movies such as Dragonheart, Armageddon, The Patriot, Black Hawk Down, and last year's Abduction. He has also appeared on the small screen in starring roles such as The State Within, Brotherhood, and more recently, Case Histories.

Isaacs returns to television once more with his starring role in the new NBC series, Awake, which premieres March 1. The story follows Isaacs' character, Michael Britten, who after surviving a tragic car accident, finds himself awake in two separate and distinct realities. In one reality his wife Hannah died, and his son Rex survived. In the other, Hannah is still alive, but they lost their son. Britten cannot tell which reality is real and which is a dream, and refuses to give up either of them.

Britten is also a detective, and information from cases in both realities start to bleed through, giving him a special insight into solving them with his unique perspective.

Isaacs recently sat down with the digital media to discuss his new role and dual realities his character finds himself in.

FringeTonight Fox will air the last episode of Fringe, "The End of All Things," before a short hiatus. David Robert Jones returns, and with the ads showing the Observer, it looks to be an exciting episode. The two executive producers of the series, Jeff Pinker and J.H. Wyman, talked with the media yesterday about the all new episode, as well as a bit about what fans can expect moving forward.

The executive producers said that tonight's episode is definitely going to be important to the mythology of the series. According to Pinkner, "It's definitely, as they say, a game changer, in that our characters learn a lot more and the audience is going to learn a lot more about sort of the uber plot of our season bad guy David Robert Jones. The character...certainly for Peter this season and Olivia and Walter is going to start to unfold in ways that, hopefully, will be really both satisfying and challenging to our characters...It's very much a hinge episode that's going to launch us into the back half of the season."
