On Friday, Netflix drops the first eight episodes of season five of the fan favorite, Lucifer, with all the main cast returning.

Based on the character created by Neil Gaiman for the Sandman series, the show follows Lucifer Morningstar, played by Tom Ellis, a fallen angel, who in defiance of his father, abandons his throne in Hell for LA where he owns a nightclub, Lux. After an acquaintance is murdered, Lucifer finds himself in the presence of Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), and he eventually becomes her partner as a consultant for the LAPD, where they battle angelic, demonic, and even human threats.

Over the course of the series, Chloe discovers that Lucifer is actually the devil. At the end of season four, she accepts Lucifer and admits to him that she loves him, making him realize that it was she who was his first true love and that the prophecy will come to pass, unleashing evil on the Earth. After a kiss, Lucifer leaves to send the demons back and once again rule over Hell.

I'll tell you up-front that I've been a Star Wars fan ever since I was sixteen when the first movie came out. I was already a Trekkie and sci-fi fan, so I was just mesmerized by the original Star Wars and its colorful universe. You can't underestimate the effect that movie had on many of us. Good sci-fi films and TV shows were relatively rare back then, and special effects were pretty bad. When George Lucas made the first Star Wars movie, he not only created a completely original universe full of unusual aliens, planets, handsome heroes, and butt-kicking heroines, but he actually created new cameras and other techniques still used in film today. His vision was the most important factor driving the films. When Empire Strikes Back came out three years later, it was not only a great sequel but an even better movie.

Riverdale Avenue Books has recently started a new line of books on television and movies, with the first one in the series being The Bingewatcher’s Guide to Doctor Who by Mackenzie Flohr. With Doctor Who being my favorite show currently on television and given the fact that the twelfth season just finished airing, I was really excited to receive the book for review.

The book focuses mostly on season eleven, but it works well as a recap, and it has a lot of other information in it.

The book is divided into a bunch of different sections. The beginning gives a history on how the series came to be and evolve, as well as how the author became an fan and how it inspired her. It also talks about how Chris Chibnall changed the series, including of course, the introduction of Jodie Whittaker as the first female Doctor.

Based on the novel of the same name by Joe Hill, NOS4A2 returns to AMC June 21 with all new episodes. The series follows Vic McQueen, played by Ashleigh Cummings, a young woman with the supernatural ability to travel anywhere and find lost things.

In the first season, when immortal Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto), who steals children’s souls, lures a child into his Rolls-Royce Wraith to take him to Christmasland, a magical place where everyday is the holiday, Vic uses her abilities to go after him and the other kidnapped children.

Eventually, Vic kills Manx by lighting the Wraith, which keeps him alive, on fire. She is saved by Lou Carmody (Jonathan Langdon), who takes her to the hospital where she finds out she is pregnant.

Emma. is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s comedic nineteenth-century tale of love, matchmaking, and moving beyond the stigma of social classes.

The story takes place in Regency-era England and follows Emma Woodhouse, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, a rich, privileged, and pretentious girl who is entering adulthood. Revered by the town and wanting for nothing, Emma thinks herself quite the matchmaker when her governess, Miss Taylor (Gemma Whelan), marries the man she introduced to her, Mr. Weston (Rupert Graves). Taking a girl, Harriet (Mia Goth), with uncertain parentage under her wing and ignoring the advice of her brother-in-law Mr. Knightley (Johnny Flynn) who she has known for years, she decides to match her up with the local vicar, Mr. Elton (Josh O’Connor), and persuades her to refuse a marriage proposal from farmer Robert Martin (Connor Swindells). Mr. Elton, however, would never marry someone so below his social status and instead proposes to an oblivious Emma.

Emma may believe she doesn’t need a man for herself, but that doesn’t stop her from flirting with Frank Churchill (Callum Turner), Mr. Weston’s son, who seems to favor her, regardless of Mr. Knightley’s warnings.

Based on a character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg and taken from the comic book series The Sandman and the subsequent spin-off, Lucifer, the television series Lucifer originally aired on FOX for three seasons. After its cancellation, it was picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode fourth season, which arrived today on DVD and Blu-ray (via the Warner Archive Collection).

The two work together solving murders, with Lucifer sometimes using his powers of being able to force people to admit their true desires to help the cases along.

During the course of the three seasons, the two became closer and Lucifer started to change his ways.

At the end of season three, the two finally kissed, however, Chloe later saw Lucifer’s devil face, proof that he was really who he claimed to be.

Disney’s Frozen II, the sequel to the 2013 3D computer-animated film Frozen, was recently released on digital and in physical versions, including 4-K Blu-ray. The film features returning directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, as well as songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and composer Christophe Beck. The movie sees the return of all of fans’ favorite characters, including Queen Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel, her sister Anna, voiced by Kristen Bell, Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, and of course the lovable magical snowman, Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad, and Sven.

Three years after the first film takes place, after Elsa hears a mysterious voice calling to her, she accidentally awakes the elemental spirits. When the kingdom of Arendelle is threatened, Elsa and her sister, along with their friends, leave for the Enchanted Forest to follow the voice. While trying to uncover and understand the source of Elsa’s powers, the sisters will not only learn more about the origin of her powers, but also the truth about what happened to their parents.

Thursday the new sci-fi thriller miniseries, Devs, premieres its first two episodes on FX on Hulu. The series comes from Alexa Garland, the creator of Ex Machina and Annihilation, who also writes, directs, and serves as an executive producer on the series.

At a cutting-edge tech company called Amaya, Sergei (Karl Glusman), who’s been working in the AI department, is invited by his boss, Forest (Nick Offerman), to join the highly secretive Devs team. When he doesn’t return from work, his girlfriend, software engineer Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno), investigates the mysterious development division of the company and the man behind it, who she thinks may be behind his murder. In doing so she uncovers more than she expected.

“The Timeless Children,” part two of the Doctor Who season finale, airs tonight on BBC America. In the episode, written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, the Cybermen are ready to hunt down the last few remaining humans as the Master (Sacha Dhawan) promises to reveal the truth to the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker). With the Doctor trapped, can her friends Graham (Bradley Walsh), Yaz (Mandip Gill), and Ryan (Tosin Cole) make it out alive? Is it the end of Gallifrey forever? Many lies are exposed, and it will change the Doctor forever.

Sunday AMC premieres its new anthology series, Dispatches from Elsewhere, with the season based on a real-life alternate reality game, that continues with the second episode Monday in its regular time slot. The ten-hour series focuses on four lonely people who are relatively unhappy and missing something in life, until they each find clues leading to a puzzle that’s everywhere around them. Brought together, the four form an unlikely friendship as they accept the challenges and struggle to piece together the mystery that takes them deeper and deeper into a world of possibilities that could change their lives.
