Doctor Who - Spyfall Part Two - 12.02 - Recap

**The following is a detailed recap of the episode, which means it's full of spoilers. Please don’t read any further until you’ve watched it. You can also check out my spoiler-free review from earlier today if you prefer**

Doctor WhoIn “Spyfall: Part Two,” The Doctor wakes up in the place with the hanging tentacles where Yaz had previously been, talking to herself and trying to figure out what to do.

Meanwhile, the rest of the gang is still on the crashing plane without a pilot. They struggle to figure out what to do, holding on for life.

On the wall near the floor, Ryan finds a plaque that has his name and another with an arrow. He follows the signs until he finds a pamphlet on “how to land a plane without a cockpit.”

Back with the Doctor, she sees a sort of spark, like electricity moving through the tentacles, which she follows. She questions what it could be.

Advance Preview: Doctor Who - Skyfall Part Two Keeps the Momentum Going

**This is a spoiler-free preview review. My detailed recap is now available here.**

Doctor WhoTonight, the second part of the Doctor Who premiere, “Skyfall: Part Two,” written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Lee Haven Jones, airs on BBC America. In the conclusion of the spy thriller, the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) has been separated from her friends, who must find their way without their leader. They must work from all sides to stop the Master, who always seems one step ahead, as humanity is about to be destroyed by the plan he has set in motion.

After last week’s episode, I was worried that part two couldn’t keep up the momentum it had built with the crazy reveal at the end. Thankfully it was for naught, as the story is filled with just as much action and adventure, and this time also some of the fantastic humor that the show is known for. I love that Chibnall is changing up the story and moving things in a brand-new direction. There is so much packed in the episode; they could have easily made a three-part premiere, considering each episode has a longer run time as well.

Advance Preview: Dracula - The New Dark and Creepy Mini-Series Comes to Netflix

DraculaToday, the new series, which recently premiered on BBC One, Dracula, drops on Netflix. Created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, the creepy retelling of the vampire tale follows Jonathan Harker (John Heffernan) in his account of becoming a prisoner of Count Dracula (Claes Bang) after coming to work for him in Transylvania. He recounts the events to Sister Agatha (Dolly Wells) from leaving the love of his fiancé, Mina, through his escape from the vampire.

The creators have managed to set the perfect atmosphere right from the beginning. The lighting, costumes, and the sets especially help to really transport you into Victorian times. The manor is gorgeous and creates an unsettling feeling with its many dark and winding stairs and hallways. Overall everything is very foreboding, and you never know what Harker will find around the corner.

The makeup effects are also very well done, and they did a fantastic job with changing Dracula and his victims in stages.

Doctor Who - Spyfall Part One - 12.01 - Post Mortem

**Following the review is a detailed recap of the episode. Note that there are many spoilers for episode 12.01 in both the review and the recap, so please don’t read any further until you’ve watched it. You can also check out my spoiler-free review from earlier today if you prefer**

Doctor WhoQuite a lot happened in tonight’s season premiere, and I absolutely loved it. The overall spy theme was quite fun, giving it a unique flair without being silly, and it just seemed very grand, from the locations to all the action sequences like the out of control killer car, the motorcycle chase, and jumping onto a moving plane. There was even a bomb. It was definitely fit for a premiere.

As always, the cast was superb. I appreciated how they first showed the companions and how they have been absent from their family and friends due to their travels with the Doctor. It’s also nice to get a bit of their lives away from her.

There was some great dialog between Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Ryan (Tosin Cole), and I really enjoyed them going undercover as journalist and photographer with their spy gadgets. Ryan was cute being nervous, and Yaz really took the reins, getting done what they had to do.
